Travel Tuesday: Coors Brewery Tour, Colorado

I’m so excited to share my first Travel Tuesday post of 2015 today!

A few weeks ago my boyfriend and I flew to Colorado for two weddings. Yes, two weddings! My friend Dan’s wedding celebration was on Saturday in Denver (Hi Dan!) and my boyfriend’s cousin’s wedding was on Sunday in Colorado Springs.

The timing actually worked out perfectly and it ended up being a great weekend getaway. I forgot my camera so I didn’t take very many pictures around Colorado, so today I’m really just going to share our tour of the Coors Brewery in Golden, CO. Sorry all of the pictures are from my phone…

My boyfriend’s family was in town for the wedding on Sunday, so we all went to the Coors Brewery for a tour on Monday after the wedding. One of his cousin’s friends from college works at the brewery so we ended up getting a guided VIP tour, which was awesome. I’ll be honest, I don’t really like Coors, but they brew a lot of other beers that I do like, so that was a plus when it came to the tastings.

It was really interesting to hear about the brewing process and see it done on such a large scale. We’ve been to local breweries before, but of course this is on a whole other level. The brewery is the world’s largest single-site brewery.

The production line is probably the most impressive part of the tour. It’s crazy how much beer is canned and packaged in the few minutes that you are standing there watching.

The tour ends at the tasting room and I think you get 2 free beers (or soda if you are underage/don’t drink/are the designated driver). We were on the VIP tour so we got to go to the employee lounge with a four beer limit…the fresh Blue Moon and Summer Shandy was delicious! Let’s just say it was a good thing I wasn’t driving!

If you are in the Denver/Golden, Colorado area, I highly recommend stopping by the brewery. The self-guided tour is free and runs 7 days/week during the summer and 5 days/week the rest of the year. You can check here for times.

Here are a few other tips for the tour:
You can bring a camera, but no bags/backpacks/purses are allowed.
Because of the brewing process, it is pretty hot and humid in there, so plan accordingly.
They don’t accept reservations, so it’s recommended to arrive early for shorter wait times.
