The Friday Five

One – 2013 Photobook

It only took nine months, but I finally finished my 2013 photobook! I used Mixbook again and I’m really happy with the quality, as usual. They have 40%-off sales pretty often (or you can look online for a coupon code), so if you use Mixbook, make sure you wait to order until there’s a deal. Some of my favorite events from last year were Spring Training baseball, the AZ Crawfish Festival, and our trip to England/France (although I made a separate England/France photobook last year). I also made separate pages for Ringo, Abby, and my favorite Instagram pictures.

Two – Christmas Shopping

Has anyone else already started their Christmas shopping? I like to get started early so I can spread out my purchases over a few months. My mom always says that I give really thoughtful gifts, so the pressure is on every year to come up with new gift ideas…plus I’m really indecisive so I need all of the time I can get to think of ideas. I’ve already bought two presents for my mom, one for my dad, one for my aunt and a couple small things for my boyfriend’s niece and nephew. I have a spreadsheet on my computer with all of my purchases and gift ideas laid out. I take Christmas presents very seriously…LOL!

Three – Curtains

I finally hung curtains in the guest bedroom! Granted, they are just white panels from Wal-Mart, but it’s better than nothing. I think the most exciting part is that the curtain rod is up, so it’ll be easy to change out curtains when I finally decide what I want to do with this room. For now it’s my boyfriend’s junk room and he cleans it up whenever we have guests over (or they sleep on the pull-out couch in the office). Otherwise, we just keep the door closed…

Four – Bowling

Last night was the second week of our bowling league. I have to admit that it’s a lot more fun than I thought it would be. The first week I bowled a 86, 115, and 127, so my average was 109 and I ended up with a 99-point handicap. Last night I didn't bowl as well as the first week. I bowled a 104, 97, and 97. It was still fun and we ended up winning 2 of the 3 games and pin total...mostly because my boyfriend bowled over 200 on those two games.

Five – Grey Bench

I still haven’t decided how I feel about the bench in the entry way. At first I didn’t like and I was planning on returning it, but now it’s starting to grow on me. I think it’ll look better once I add pillows and other decorations around it. Here’s a very poor photoshopped version of what I have in mind. I still have the box and I have until October 25th to return it...ugh, I can’t decide. I need opinions! Please!

  1. What does it look like if you turned it and put it in front of the window?

    1. Good suggestion, but the front door is only a few inches away if I turn it that direction. I'm sure it would get pretty banged up from the door accidently opening into it.

  3. I Christmas shop throughout the year too. I just have all of the gifts I've purchased in a basket in the closet, so a spreadsheet would be really helpful because I can't remember most of what is in there! I love the look of your bench with a pillow on it, and an umbrella holder next to it--perfect! Or even a coat rack, if you don't have a coat closet.
