Summer Before – July Progress

Today is “Craft Room Update” day! As a reminder, this is what my craft room looked like at the beginning of the summer:

It was a MESS! Seriously, I’m embarrassed to even show that picture. It looks like an episode of Hoarders minus the cats and animal feces.
Anyway, last month you saw the room all cleaned up. You should have seen my trash/donate pile!

OK, now that everyone is caught up – let’s talk about my progress over the past month. I’ll warn you right now, nothing “pretty” has happened in the room yet.
Now that you’ve been warned, here’s what the craft room looks like now:

Everything has been cleared out, so I can start painting. Of course that means that my office now looks like this:

After I emptied everything from the room (including everything in the drawers), I took down the shelves and brackets.

I even made a little diagram and numbered all of the pieces so I’d be able to put everything back exactly as it was.

Moving the desk is next on my to-do list. Hopefully I can get that figured out this week, so I can paint over the weekend! I have the color narrowed down to 2 samples. It’s going to look SO much better painted! You can’t tell from the pictures, but the walls are filthy!
It doesn’t look like much right now, but I’m getting really excited for the “after”.  It looks great in my mind! I think I’ll put together a mood board next week to help organize my plans and share my plan with y’all.

Do you have a summer project? Are you making better progress than I am? I'm 2 months in and don't even have the walls painted yet...

  1. I just posted about my messy craft area too. I'm with you on hoping things turn out as nice as they appear in my head, but sometimes I have no images... therefore the procrastinating :-)

  2. I like it! Blank walls are huge progress, especially considering that it probably took you about 100 trips back and forth between the office and the craft room. I can't wait to see what color you do! You are totally making it cute! Yay! How big is that room? It's hard to tell from the pictures, obviously big enough to be comfortable to sew in!

PS. I had a dream that you decided to be a teacher with me and we lived next door and would sit on the fence grading our papers with pink pens. Why pink? Dunno. I just thought I would share that.

  3. Definitely getting there! Like Meaghan said, moving out all that stuff takes a lot of work...and painting will be more fun anyway!

  4. Whoa, you've been a busy girl! you're still putting me to shame Sam. Remember how I said I was going to get on organizing my bedroom? Well I took one thing out and stuck it in the basement and that was the extent of my organizing. I've gotta step it up! I can't wait to see your craft room with a new coat of paint!

  5. Hoarders participants cannot see the counter or floor. You're still good.

  6. It is so hard when the weather is hot. You can do it...or you need a break. Which do you want me to say? lol.

  7. Your progress is far more impressive than mine - it looks great! I am glad to know I'm not the only one who appreciates the genius of charts on notebook paper.

  9. I wish I could see the final result in your mind! I can't wait to see it! It's gonna be soooo cute! And you'll be able to craft around in there which is going to make it totally worth it. Plus you did mathematical looking things. Totally impressed.
